Position Title: Indigenous Community Liaison

Salary Range: $26-$28/hour plus benefits

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Overview:

North Dakota Domestic & Sexual Violence Coalition is the designated domestic violence and sexual assault coalition in North Dakota. Our mission is to end domestic and sexual violence in North Dakota. Our membership includes 18 community-based programs throughout North Dakota who provide direct services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.

General Summary of Responsibilities:

This position will coordinate statewide activities for services and programming for Indigenous victim-survivors of domestic & sexual violence in partnership with First Nations Women’s Alliance. Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison and resource on cultural diversity and special populations issues for NDDSVC and member programs.

Duties:

  • Work to implement action steps identified in NDDSVC’s Needs Assessment focusing on the unique needs of Indigenous survivors.
  • Serve as a liaison between tribal and non-tribal advocacy programs.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to NDDSVC member programs on culturally responsive services to Indigenous survivors and their families.
  • Engage with member programs on integrating appropriate practices to ensure the distinct needs of Indigenous survivors and their families are met.
  • Develop informative resources to educate NDDSVC, member programs and their community stakeholders, and the public.
  • Support the needs of other underserved populations and develop tools for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) plans, disability access, and community engagement.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in a social service or related field.
  • Experience working with North Dakota’s Indigenous communities.
  • Experience in training and technical assistance curriculum development, adult learning styles/adult education, and group facilitation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage several projects at once.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Flexibility to do some traveling in state and occasionally out of state.

This is a grant funded position.

The person in this position is responsible for providing rural domestic and sexual violence victims (adults and children) with advocacy, information and referrals, and education.
