Term Length: 2-Year Term, renewable up to three terms.
Time Commitment: Quarterly board meetings (2 hours each meeting) and other times as needed.
Overview
North Dakota Domestic & Sexual Violence Coalition is the designated domestic violence and sexual assault coalition in North Dakota. Our mission is to end domestic and sexual violence in North Dakota. Our membership includes 18 community-based programs throughout North Dakota who provide direct services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
General Summary of Responsibilities
NDDSVC is seeking committed, thoughtful, and community-minded individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Board members play a critical governance role in ensuring the organization’s mission, financial health, and strategic direction are advanced. We are particularly interested in individuals who bring diverse perspectives, lived experience, and professional expertise to strengthen our statewide impact.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight
- Support and uphold NDDSVC’s mission, vision, and values
- Participate in and prepare for board meetings
- Review and approve organizational policies, budgets, and strategic plans
- Ensure financial accountability and sustainability
- Serve as ambassadors for NDDSVC across the state
- Maintain confidentiality and act in the best interest of the organization
Qualifications
- Commitment to ending domestic and sexual violence
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, governance, or community organizing
- Expertise in areas such as finance, law, public policy, healthcare, communications, or advocacy
- Understanding of rural, tribal, and/or underserved communities in North Dakota
- Lived experience related to NDDSVC’s mission (valued and respected)
- Ability to collaborate, think strategically, and engage in respectful dialogue
