This chart gives a side by side comparison of North Dakota’s Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs), Sexual Assault Restraining Orders (SAROs), Disorderly Conduct Restraining Orders (DCROs), Orders Prohibiting Contact, and No Contact Orders. This tool is designed for advocates working with victims who are considering applying for a civil protection order. The chart can help victims understand the different types of orders and which one suits their situation best.
Note: The information in this resource reflects the changes to the civil protection order statute that takes effect on January 1, 2026.

View a map and directory of all certified domestic violence offender intervention programs (previously called Batterers' Intervention Programs or Domestic Violence Offender Treatment Programs) in North Dakota. All certified programs in North Dakota use a curriculum that supports the Duluth model.

If you are in an unsafe or abusive situation, there are 18 domestic violence/sexual assault (DV/SA) victim advocacy centers across North Dakota that can help you navigate your options and stay safe. Each center is staffed with professionals who can help you with safety planning, finding shelter, obtaining a protection order, and more.
NDDSVC does not provide direct services to victims and survivors.
